About

The idea behind Europe Photobloggers was born out of a desire to connect with other like-minded, camera crazy, web inclined, creative types.

An initial e-mail exchange took place between Chrys, Brandon, Fredrik and Lorissa, then opened up to additional photobloggers through a Yahoo! Group, and then later replaced by a Wiki.

Not long after, some 50+ people were meeting face-to-face in London at the well known Troubadour - not just one night, but two. The group connected alright, over drinks and talk of focal lengths and apertures and crop factors. Together we pulled off a gallery exhibition, print swap, give-aways from our generous sponsors, photo walks throughout London, and a brunch on Sunday afternoon. Afterwards everyone met back online, telling stories and posting photos on their own photoblogs and on Flickr.

There it was. Seed planted.

It wasn't long afterwards (perhaps during that Sunday brunch in London) that discussions of, "where we should have it next year" were taking place. No objections were raised at the thought of Amsterdam, and Rachel and Lynn quickly volunteered to organize it. And organize it they did, with another exhibition at the Galerie Buuf, more socializing, more photo outings, and more friendships established.

This year we picked Berlin, and have the enigmatic and well-connected Iron Flatline coordinating a weekend full of activities.
